Day 30 Aug 5 - Drop the camper off, visit the Munsinger gardens, roast hot dogs and smores

Busy day today. They were forcasting rain for Tuesday so we figured we had best get the trailer dropped off while the sun was shining. Rain in the early morning but it cleared up nicely.

We visited the Munsinger and Clemens gardens in St Cloud. A must see if you are in the area. Beautiful gardens located along side the Mississippi river.

Capped the day off with hot dog roast and smore making at TJ's on the Lake.

Day 29 Aug 4 The best pot roast ever

We were searching for some kind of crock pot recipe that we could use to server our hosts a nice dinner. So, where else do you look, the RV forums of course. Found the Best pot roast ever, at least that is what it was called. It did live up to its name.

If interested, Google "the best pot roast ever for a slow cooker". It will show up. It takes a packet or two each of Italian seasonings, ranch dressing mix, brown gravy and the roast.

We did find out what it's like to live 15 mins from the nearest grocery store. We city folk do get spoiled being just a couple mins away.

Day 28 Aug 3 - A mid Minnesota summer festival

In looking for something to do today we had a choice of a couple of local small town festivals. One 17 miles to the south, the other 14 miles to the north. We opted for the closer one, Heritage Days in Albany.

Leroy's home town school played against Albany at times in the usual high school sports and we would pass by the town when we went up to Long Prairie but it has been several years since stopping in.

They had a bean bag contest, a pedal tractor pull for the kids, a firemans battle, parade and fireworks.. A nice small town affair.

The bean bag toss off was still going strong when we left 3 hours later, they had a large number of contestants vying for the $400 first prize.

Rosalie volunteered to enter the tractor pedal pull. Her first ever as far as we know. This is a small version of the standard tractor pull. Kids on pedal tractors that are pulling small trailers that contain weights that are pulled closer to the tractor as the kids get further down the course. Just like the big boys. The top three would go on to state competition later in the year. We could tell some of the four year olds were old hat at this competition. Rose did well but alas we will not be returning in Sept for the state contest. unfortunately the pictures did not turn out.

Day 27 Aug 2 - Another lazy day

I do believe we are beginning to enjoy TJ's Place on the Lake.

Today was another lazy day, sleep late, wish our hosts a safe trip as they left for the weekend, a movie for us all.

The insurance adjustor was by to assess the result of the Garden City flood. Took a couple of pictures, listened patiently to our story and was gone.

We are still on track to get things sealed back up on Tuesday, then on the road again. I think we are all suffering from "we want to be gone again" itess,

Posting a comment to the blog

Hi,
It's come to our attention that commenting to the blog has been a problem. We have made some changes that will hopefully solve that problem. We still see problems when trying to comment from a phone browser. If you try the "View web version" link from your phone's browser you may have more luck.

When clicking on the "Post a comment" link a new browser page or tab should open up. After entering your comment be sure to select an "Identity". If you have a Google account you can use that or you can choose the "Name/URL" option. That will ask you to enter a name with the URL part being optional (you need not enter a URL if you do not have one).

Then you will need to enter the two words to prove you are not a robot, some of those are hard to read but it keeps automated systems from causing trouble with the blogs.

Then click on "Publish Your Comment". You can choose preview but when you want to "send" it for real you will need to use Publish and that will require re-entering the two words.

Hopefully this will work better. Send an email or call if you still have trouble.

Thanks,
            The WeBeGone'ers

Day 26 Aug 1 - Getting an estimate for the trailer and a shower

It's finally cleared up enough to be confident that we can get the trailer in to be looked at for an estimate without getting rained on. 15 mins after getting there we are out the door. There were able to confirm that we appear to have escaped the bullet on this one. Damage seems to be limited to the vanity counter top and a small amount of trim. They think they can get it all sealed back up in about 3 hours next Tuesday. We will need to get the counter top and trim taken care of when we return to Texas. Like all RV service centers they are backed up this time of year.

While Papa was off getting the trailer fixed Rosalie was taking advantage of the outside shower ( for rinsing off after being in the lake.) She seems to really enjoy the outdoors and being bare foot as much as possible.

Day 25 July 31 - A day of chores and laziness and a fish fry

A day of cleaning house, doing laundry, a bit of work on the rig and just lazing about.

Later we went off to experience a local phenomena, the Cold Spring Wednesday night fish fry. The fishing bunch get together on Wednesday evenings to fry up the days catch. We met a bunch of our hosts friends. All very nice and welcoming to the Texans.
